An Encouraging Tale
After Jimmy Fallon and after Seth Rogan, was
ignoring the NBC music jam with an eleven-year-
old, when what jolts across the flat screen but
commercials for Klondike Bars and Twix Candy.
WTH (what the heck) is that? I asked. At
this hour, an ad for kid kandy and ice cream
sandwiches?
My TV buddy, so worldly wise, so grown up,
suggested that perhaps he wasn’t the only
one of his demographic watching at this hour.
Then through the sliding glass door open to
the magical night wafted a scent-of-the-times
familiar to any urban dweller. Or country
dweller. Or anywhere dweller.
Light bulb time.
Yup, you’re right, I said. Those munchie
manufacturers know laaaate Friday night
is a prime time to capture the attention
of all you squirts.
The answer to: WTH is that?
We real grown-ups know WTF that is.
So thrilling to see some eleven-year-old
innocence.

For every pot there’s a lid, they say.
And a Klondike Bar and a Twix, I say.
